Turn your items into a chance to earn better rewards

Upgrader adds a single item to Minecraft 1.21.1 on Forge: the Upgrader. Right-click it to open the wheel, drop an item into the left slot and pick what you want out of the list on the right — the mod works out your odds. Hit the button and a marker runs around the wheel: stop it inside the gold zone and your item becomes the one you asked for.

WHY ITEM UPGRADER?

Odds you can actually reason about

Nothing is hand-tuned per item and nothing is hidden behind a random number generator. Values come from real recipes, the chance is shown before you press the button, and the roll is made by the server.

One single item

Upgrader adds exactly one item — the Upgrader. Right-click it and the wheel opens. No blocks to place, no extra menus to learn.

Pick your target

Drop an item into the left slot and choose what you want out of the list on the right. The mod works out the odds for that exact trade.

Priced by real recipes

Crafting, smelting, blasting, smoking, campfire and stonecutting, plus the smithing table — every recipe is walked back down to raw materials.

Modded items included

If it has a recipe it has a value, so items from other mods are priced automatically. No compat patches needed.

Damage counts

Damaged tools are worth less, in proportion to the durability left, so the odds match the item you actually put in.

A fair chance formula

Success is 0.9 × (your item’s value ÷ the target’s value), clamped between 0.1% and 90% — a downgrade is never a sure win, a wild gamble is never truly impossible.

Server-side rolls

The roll happens on the server, so the client can’t lie about the outcome. Safe to run on multiplayer.

Sensible exclusions

Items whose value lives entirely in NBT — spawn eggs, potions, enchanted books — are left out. Anything with no recipe at all falls back to a rarity-based estimate.
